I started working with communities at the age of 18…

I now have over 14 years experience in Youth Work and Community Education. In this time I have tutored music in schools which catered for young people who presented challenging behaviour, worked with The Scottish Parliament on ways to evaluate events for young people and have helped communities to feel good about the place where they live through, Art, Film and Music.

I have designed, developed and delivered project for local authorities and have had the pleasure of working with some of the largest charities in the UK such as Barnardos and Quarriers.

I also work closely with local charities and not-for-profits on various projects including graffiti and music tuition such as PRYDE and Arran Youth Foundations.

In 2018 I became Artist in Residence for South Ayrshire Council and during this time I worked closely with Girvan Primary School to produce a number of Anti-Bullying animations with their three Primary 7 classes.

The project involved over 60 young people who wrote, drew, narrated, recorded, animated and edited their own animations.

The animations where shown at a school event which invited the parents/guardians of the young people involved to not only view the young people’s hard work but also take part in a range on Anti Bullying workshops.

North Ayrshire Councils commissioned myself to design and develop a program to produce a teaching resource. To do this I engaged six different primary schools to develop the Gaelic Speaking Dictionary.

The young people learnt the basics of the Gaelic language AND they also used numerous mediums to do so such as Animation, Photography, Audio Recording, Foley Recording and Film.

The end result was an online engaging resource which allowed other Primary Schools and Teachers to teach Gaelic to their classrooms.

Arran Youth Foundations provide the young people of the Isle of Arran with fantastic opportunities and learning experiences. They are a Not for Profit Organisation and run a Drop In Centre for the Young People of Arran.

I have spent a lot of time with the groups working in Music, Art and Film.

This video is from one project where I helped the young people to revamp their cabin.

…is simple. To engage young people and communities in creative projects which leave them not only with new skills but also with the tools needed to pursue creativity on their own.
